25 Years & Going Strong… the Rippingtons Dazzle aboard the Smooth Cruise

Ripps250x250

It was a beautiful night to be out on the water in New York Harbor and an even better night to be there with the Grammy® nominated Rippingtons. Last night’s two shows with the smooth jazz sensations featuring Grammy-nominated guitarist and keyboardist founder Russ Freeman were true crowd pleases from the shouts and applause to be heard on all decks.

The band’s current line-up consisting of Freeman, Jeff Kashiwa, Bill Heller, Dave Karasony, and the newest member, bass player Rico Belled, delighted fans with songs off their recent release Côte d’Azur (Feb. 2011) as well as older favorites from “Modern Art” and more. The 5 amazing musicians impeccably served up their memorable blend of smooth jazz to an appreciative audience. Freeman’s guitar was at its always finest, Kashiwa delighted with his smokin’ sax and also playing a cool EWI, electronic wind instrument, Belled kept the beat going strong, Heller masterfully delivered on keys, while Karasony wowed on drums – most memorably, with a killer solo.

The Rippingtons late show also streamed live online on Livestream.com (where you can still watch it now) on the Smooth Jazz New York channel at http://www.livestream.com/smoothjazznewyork.
