Truly Smooth Sailing with Pieces of a Dream

For our final Smooth Cruise of the 2011 summer season, Pieces of a Dream took the stage on Wednesday night, played old favorites, new tunes, and really got the audience moving. The men from Philly, played to a very enthusiastic crowd with Facebook comments the following day noting, “…it was off the hook… The boat docked and they were still playing. Great show,” “classic side! Stanley T. [Turrentine] did it a very long time ago… Kudos!,” “These young brothers are doing it and carrying on the pieces of a dream…,” and “Pieces of a Dream was awesome last nite! Perfect way to end the Smooth Jazz Cruise and the summer…” Several others noted their regrets on missing this very memorable performance.

Founding members, Philadelphia’s own James Lloyd on keyboard and Curtis Harmon on drums were joined by David Dyson (bass), Ron Lawrence (guitar) and Tony Watson who literally “blew” the crowd away with some fine sax playing. For their closing number, the band tore it up with a killer version of “Come Together,” giving the Beatles’ classic a very cool jazz edge. Smooth Jazz New York would sincerely like to thank all the fans and smooth jazz artists for making this an amazing Smooth Cruise season! Before we head into the cooler months, don’t miss our special Smooth Cruise Encore Double Bill with Phil Perry and Alex Bugnon on Friday, October 7th.
